Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is a Hong Kong-based container shipping and logistics service company. The company was founded in 1969 and has headquarters in Hong Kong, China. OOCL shipping Development history

In 1947, Tung (Dong Zhaorong) established the Orient Overseas Shipping Company (Orient overseas line). In 1969, OOCL shipping entered the container transport and renamed as OOCL shipping container shipping company. OOCL shipping has been able to develop in East Asia. OOCL shipping has is one of the seven largest shipping companies in the world. OOCL shipping also has the largest ship in the history of shipbuilding in the world-Sea giant (Sea wise Giant).

OOCL shipping and COSCO Merger:

On the evening of July 9, 2019, COSCO Shipping Company announced its merger with OOCL shipping. At present, COSCO shipping container Transportation Co., Ltd. is the world's fourth-largest container shipping company and OOCL shipping is the world's seventh-largest container shipping company. Which means that after their merger, the combined container capacity of both COSCO Shipping and OOCL shipping will be more than 2.9 million standard boxes and operating fleet of more than 400 vessels. Which will surpass the Feida Group Company Limited to become the third largest shipping company in the world. COSCO Shipping and OOCL shipping will provide container global transport services with two independent brands. Both sides of the fleet size, network and resources will form an effective and perfect logistics provider which will be cost effective.
